Privacy Policy

Beacon is built local-first: your data lives on your device, not on our servers. This policy explains the few things that ever leave your phone, and why.

What stays on your device

Everything you track — portfolio positions, trades, journal entries, habits, health metrics, mood logs, goals, streaks, and settings — is stored locally on your device. We do not run user accounts and cannot see this data.

What leaves your device

• AI requests. When you use an AI feature (trade plans, coaching, physique analysis, food logging), the content needed for that request is sent to Anthropic's Claude API — either directly with your own API key, or through our server. We do not store the contents of these requests. Anthropic's handling is described in their privacy policy.
• An anonymous device identifier. A random ID (not tied to your name, email, or Apple ID) is used to enforce fair daily limits on free AI usage. It is stored with a request count and nothing else.
• Market data requests. Prices and news are fetched from public market-data services using ticker symbols only.
• Waitlist email. If you join the waitlist on our website, your email is stored by our form provider (Formspree) and used only to contact you about Beacon.

What we don't do

• No selling or sharing of personal data with advertisers or data brokers
• No ads, no tracking SDKs, no analytics tied to your identity
• No access to your brokerage accounts — portfolio import is text you paste, parsed on your device

Permissions

Beacon asks for permissions only when a feature needs them: camera & photos (physique check-ins, barcode scanning), location (local weather on your dashboard), notifications (streak and habit reminders), and Apple Health if you connect it. All are optional; the app works without them.

Deleting your data

Delete the app and your on-device data goes with it. To remove a waitlist email or ask anything about your data, contact us and we'll handle it promptly.
